The Ambiq harvestKIT, AMA3BHARV1, is a versatile energy harvesting reference design platform designed to enhance battery life or eliminate the need for batteries in IoT applications. At its core is the Apollo3 Blue SoC, which utilizes Ambiq’s patented subthreshold power optimized technology (SPOT®) to deliver high energy efficiency and processing power for devices running on small batteries or other more environmentally friendly energy storage elements such as super capacitors. The kit supports a wide range of modules through its mikroBUS™ sockets, allowing for easy expansion and customization.

Included in the kit is a Click module based on the Nexperia NEH2000BY PMIC IC for solar energy harvesting, and two low-power 1.8 V custom Click sensor modules from TDK InvenSense and Bosch Sensortec for motion and environmental monitoring. The Apollo3 Blue SoC efficiently reads data from these sensors. Significant compute cycles and on-chip memory capacity are available to run AI/ML algorithms that process the sensor data on the edge as an endpoint and relay only the results to the host via the integrated Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) 5 radio, further reducing power consumption. Ambiq’s reference firmware sends raw sensor data at user-selected intervals to a web app running in a Chromium web browser on a PC, phone, or tablet. Reference source code is available for the SoC firmware and host GUI web app.

The board includes a 10-pin (1.27 mm pitch) Arm® Cortex® JTAG/SWD debug connector compatible with Segger J-Link debuggers.
